Please read the Magnet Schools Fact Sheet before filling out an application.  PLEASE DO NOT USE THE 2016-2017 MAGNET APPLICATIONS THAT ARE CURRENTLY POSTED ON THE DISTRICT'S MAGNET WEBSITE IF YOUR CHILD WILL BE APPYING FOR THE 2017-2018 SCHOOL YEAR.

Why Parents Should Submit Applications EARLY in the Application Window!
The magnet selection process is not "first come, first serve". However, we strongly encourage all parents to submit applications early in the application window ' This will allow time to for parents to secure missing documentation if needed. Applications that are missing required documentation on the deadline will be considered incomplete.

Important Information for Parents of Students Who Attended Out-of-District, Private, Virtual, and Home Schools during 2015-2016 or 2016-2017
Early submission is particularly important for parents of applicants who were not enrolled in a school that was part of the official Greenville County School District for all or part of the 2015-2016 school year. This applies to all public schools located outside of Greenville County as well as all charter, virtual, private, and home-schools located inside or outside of Greenville County. Applicants who fall into these categories must submit 2015-2016 attendance records, 2015-2016 discipline reports and 2015-2016 report cards that are compatible with the official records issued by the Greenville County Schools. Please be aware that parents may need a considerable amount of time in order to secure and submit required documentation before application deadline. We strongly encourage parents to contact Marsha Patry, Magnet Coordinator, at 864 355-6224 if there are questions.

Important Information for Parents of Students Who Have Been Enrolled in District School for ALL of 2015-2016 and 2016-2017
We anticipate that parents of students who have been enrolled in a Greenville County School for ALL of the 2016-2017 school year and ALL of the 2015-2016 school year will not need to submit report cards, attendance records or discipline reports with their child's application. The Magnet Coordinator at Hughes Academy should be able to access these records electronically through the District's magnet application system. However, we strongly encourage parents of in-district applicants to submit applications early in the application just as a precaution!

Frequently Asked Questions Document (FAQ)
Parents will be asked to read the District's 2017-2018  "Frequently Asked Questions" (FAQ) document before signing, dating, and submitting completed applications. The FAQ document contains important information that parents need to know about the application requirements, the application scoring process, and magnet policies. Copies of the FAQ document will be available on both the District and League websites as soon as the first application window opens.

Questions?
Please contact Hughes Academy Magnet Coordinator if you have any questions or concerns about your child's application - Marsha Patry

6th Grade STEAM Unit - A Night at the Museum

 “A Night at the Museum”

Students stepped back into history by collaboratively exploring a specific era in order to showcase its significance to peers and teachers. Students worked  in teams to create an exhibit that incorporated 2 students to play as actors, 1 to serve as an architect, 1 to serve as a chef that will provide a sample dish, 1 to monitor a hands on activity, and 1 to act as a tour guide for their exhibit.
